  • Historical Note: This photograph was taken at Sunset Rock on September 18, 1889, during the barbeque and reunion held by veterans of Chickamauga and Chattanooga. In the center, wearing a top hat, is General William S. Rosecrans. In the back row, the third from the right is Adolph S. Ochs, the owner of the Chattanooga Times, who was instrumental in organizing the event, which led to the preservation of the battlefield and creation of the park.
